Colchester 1100S from 1980 - rusted gas bottle frame replacement?

Postby mochem » Sun Mar 03, 2019 10:06 pm

We are looking for some advice. The steel frame attached to the front A frame that secures the gas bottles has rusted through. Can anyone advise where we might obtain a replacement, or know of anyone who might make a replacement? Thanks.

I'd give your local mobile caravan repair man (MCEA) a call see if he can reccomend anyone or look for a metal fabrication company in your area.

I don't know if this is feasible but could it be made of ply and fibreglassed to make it strong and waterproof?

Very helpful suggestion, we hadn't thought of that. We've managed to get it off with the help of a hacksaw today and are off to a local metal fabricator tomorrow to see what they can do. Thanks for the suggestion - most ingenious. :D
