damaged sink

Colchester 500 - EB 2002. I have chipped the enamel paint quite badly on the sink. Can u still get the original paint to repair it with. I have tried buying paint but it is totally wrong colour when applied. Will i need primer ?
It is a cream colour, the paint i bought was antique white and it's far too dark.

I e-mailed your query to a Dealer we have contact with and he replied as follows:-

‘All we would do is match it, but being enamel it's difficult with the depth of finish. Use primer if down to metal.’

Have you tried model shops as they stock a huge range of enamel paints in small containers together with primers and base coats that are mixable to get the correct colour match if you can’t get the colour off the shelf.
With regards to the depth issue it’s just a question of applying coat after coat to build the depth up over time. When your happy with the job you can flat it down with the application of a rubbing compound.

As far as I know there are no records for the colours of sinks fitted to Fleetwood caravans, but of course my knowledge is limited in this area.
What I would do is a google search on ‘enamel paint shade card’ or look at the various enamel paint manufacturers web sites, like the link below that show shade cards.

As I mentioned in my last thread to you it may be an idea to visit a few model shops that stock enamel paints as they will most likely have shade cards you can take home to match up.

My advice would be to buy some small sample pots lighter and darker and mix your own shade on an old tablespoon or something.

Car body shops must have some sort of technology for paint matching and may be able to help or advise further.
