RM6501 Fridge Freezer

Postby Webmaster » Tue Jul 24, 2012 7:54 pm

Bob asks:

The above has packed up, all the electrics are working, it could be the coils, but have been told this is expensive to replace.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Do I go for the repair or do I just buy a new cheap fridge/freezer for the awning? (The caravan is on a seasonal pitch)
Do you recommend a scrap yard for replacement, if so,any suggestions?

A new alternative is too expensive

What can you suggest please, as this will need to be resolved for our August trip for our holidays

Maureen suggests:

We have not had any problems with our fridge freezer. Personally I would go for the repair as it is such a sensible size . Lots of companies offering parts on the web site.

When our fridge/freezer went it turned out to be the thermostat.
A repairer came out to it and I think it was about £100 to fix it ( call out/labour/parts)

Terry and Ellen say:

Sorry no prob's as yet, he say's the electric's are working? Does he mean the supply at the fridge ??

Just remembered the fuse block under the bed by the battery, the fuse for the fridge had melted. Has he checked there? I had to replace it

Cliff replies:

Hello there,
I‘m sorry but I have had no problem in this matter ,touch wood. In my eb640 the fridge is next to the door with the vent panels on the outside. If the owner can gain access to the freezer/ fridge my advice would be to get a refrigeration engineer to look at it, any reputable company will do a free estimate and may just give a solution a whole lot cheaper than a new unit.

Sorry I can’t be of more help. Best regards and good luck
