Dometic fridge/freezer recall notice

The following appliances may be affected:
RM 7601, RM 7605, RM 7651, RM 7655, RM 7801, RM 7805, RM 7851, RM 7855, RMT 7651, RMT 7655, RMT 7851 and RMT 7855.

Model numbers are located on the data plate inside the refrigerator cabinet. All the affected models were manufactured between 20 January 2004 and 20 August 2007, with serial numbers #401XXXXX-734XXXXX. These appliances should not be run on gas prior to inspection by a technician, and Dometic advise closing the corresponding gas valve. It is completely safe to operate these appliances on 12 and 230 Volt.

Dometic is strongly advising caravan owners with the RM7 series double door Dometic fridge/freezers to call Dometic on 01258 414595 to arrange a safety check as soon as possible, if they haven't already done so. 
The check is to ensure the use of an inferior screw did not create the potential for a gas leak should it work loose as a result of vibrations.
We have checked the user manuals we have for 2006, 2007 & 2008 and believe the affected make was fitted in Fleetwood Heritage 640 models - please check the serial numbers as above. 
The 2004 user manual show a different manufacturer for the fridge/freezer but we don't yet have a 2005 user manual so don't know which year Fleetwood changed to Dometic.  Perhaps someone with a 2005 Fleetwood Heritage 640 could check for us and post the make of fridge/freezer fitted.

Hi, iv'e a 2005 Fleetwood Heritage 640BB, the unit installed is a 2-door Dometic fridge/freezer, hope this helps.

Thanks Stevie, we've also had one member with a 2004 say that his is also fitted with a Dometic fridge freezer too, so it looks like anyone with a 2004 onwards needs to check the serial numbers.

Just made contact with Dometic,not only do they need the model s/n of the fridge but also the make,model and VIN number of caravan,something we have readily to hand of course!

Before we went on holiday, called Dometic engineer for my area to get the recall work done. Got number from Dometic website. When he realised it was 'only' recall work was totally unimpressed and promised to get another engineer to ring who never did. Rang him back couple of days later but couldn't get through and left message. Still not heard anything from either party.

If anyone is wanting this work done I hope it's out of season as it's obviously considered low priority.

Their notice was placed in the CC mag and if necessary we'll have a chat with them also.

Hi All,
We e-mailed them with all the info which took two trips to the caravan to get it and they have e-mailed back with a ticket number to quote and a list of dealers who will do the work the nearest one to us is about 40 miles away!!! Ho Hum not rang them yet as it we can only go on a day off when they want to do it!!

It was my understanding that the field engineer comes to the van. Maybe I was mistaken.
