At last year?s AGM when we changed the club rules, because of the demise of Fleetwood Caravans, I feel we did not fully realise the full implications of the fact there were to be no more new Fleetwood caravans when our present members wanted to upgrade their van and so had to purchase a van of another make and therefore have to leave the club. At this year?s AGM we will have a chance to change this.

There are two possibilities:-

a) Allow present & previous members to carryon their membership, albeit they have a different make of van.

b) Open up the club to all makes of van.



At the Christmas Party rally, the Chairman called a meeting of all the committee members present and discussed the options. The result was that we would recommend to the AGM option ?b?. We felt that there will be no need to change our name or other rules.

We would be pleased to hear if you agree/disagree with our recommendation.

Please give some thought to this matter and have your say at the AGM.

HAVE THE COMMITTEE AND THE CHAIRMAN  READ THE CLUB'S CONSTITUTION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE CONSTITUTION CAN BE AMENDED BUT NOT CHANGED SO TO LET ALL MAKES OF VANS IN YOU WOULD HAVE TO CHANGED THE EXEMPTION CERTIFICATE AND THE INSURANCE SO THIS WOULD MEAN THE WINDING UP OF THE 'FLEETWOOD OWNERS CLUB' AND ALL FUNDS AND ASSETS TO BE DONATED TO A CHARITY AS PER THE CONSTITUTION !!!!!!!!

We have only just joined the Club, having recently purchased a Fleetwood Heritage 560/4. We are not even sure that, being so new, that our opinions are 'acceptable' however we offer them anyway.
We can understand the demise you are in. We are also members of the MotorhomeFun Club as we had a small campervan. Now we have a caravan, and although the Chairperson has said we can stay members, we envisage 'uncomfortable times' by the odd few who think we should no longer be members. The big problem is not the change of hardware, it's the friendships that have been developed over the years. Do you say to your best caravanning friend, who has had to buy a different van, 'Sorry mate, nice knowing you but either you are not welcome or I have to leave the Club and come your way and break my friendships?
The way we see it is that there needs to be an amendment of the Rules, if that's possible, to allow members to remain if they have to change their caravans for something different. Great, no problem you may say, but where do the new members come from with no more Fleetwoods being produced?
There is a dire need for a major 'down to earth' caravan club that has a massive following and rallies galore because we are not aware of one. this might be an ideal time for change, even drastic. A complete name change would not lose any member, it may increase membership 100 fold, as it did for MotorhomeFun (from nothing to over 4,000 in under 3 years with over 200 online all the time). JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT.

There are 3 clubs who have rallies on every weekend of the year: C.C. / C.C.C. AND THE T.C.C.

Thanks for the welcome.
Yes, we are members of the Camping & Caravan Club and they are superb, being a mixture of tents, caravans and motorhomes. The Caravan Club, which we were members over 30 years ago are OK as long as you can talk posh, park your van exactly on the spot, without disturbing the grass of course and accept that they 'class' your vehicle and van. Our old Pajero would not have a chance. Never heard of TCC.
