Awning rail sealing...

Many folks like to do a bit of DIY on their van, repairs, modifications etc. Why not share with others.

Awning rail sealing...

Postby Jonesthemilk » Thu Mar 04, 2021 8:52 pm

Hi all, RE OUR HERITAGE 550ES
just stripped off and cleaned one of the awning rails (4 each side) as it was showing damp at the front corner of the van.....
Has anyone else done this ? I have everything I need i.e stainless screws, Sikaflex 522, and rolls of W4 mastic , plastic spatulas, De-solve-it spray to remove duct tape residue and Screwfix no-nonsense sealant remover to dissolve remnants of the mastic.
Now i have access to the edge trim and herzim strip I am unable to match it ( seals+direct or Coh-baines and lastly Ebay) .
Herzim is like the Bailey stuff but not as wide.... 16mm in my case.
Has anyone found a supplier for this, pls
Thanks in advance
